The Story

My interest in these trucks started back in high school. I was helping a close friend drop a crate engine into his 1972 C10 and bolt up a three-inch exhaust, and that was it for me. I loved the curved front fenders, the clean lines, and the decent driveability you got from the independent front suspension. Years later, in my twenties, I spotted a local Craigslist ad for a 1967 model and finally got my hands on one of my own. My favorite thing to do was just cruise around town with the windows rolled down, listening to the rumble of the tailpipes and taking in the drive.

Eventually, the time came to part ways with the Chevy for a milestone that mattered more. I needed to buy an engagement ring for my now-wife, so I sold it. The metal and paint of that truck transformed into the band and stone on her finger.

If I happened to run across that exact C10 today, I would probably buy it back. But if I had the choice to do it all over again, I think I would look for the fleetside version of the truck.
