Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Garage Chronicle is a registered assumed name of NAVE AND SONS LLC, a Michigan limited liability company (“Garage Chronicle,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this short and honest.

What we collect

Your email, used to sign you in — with a one-time code, or through Sign in with Google (which shares your name, email, and profile picture with us) — and to send you notifications you ask for. The content you publish — your photos, story, specs, timeline, and sale status. Your VIN, if you add one — kept private and never shown publicly (see below). Documents you upload — such as a title, build sheet, or receipts — stored privately for your own records and never shown publicly; visitors see only that documentation is on file. Messages you send through an offer inquiry. Basic usage data — which pages are viewed and general device/browser info — to understand what’s working and keep the site fast.

How we use it

To run the platform: display your car, sign you in, route offer inquiries to owners, generate the social preview image when you share a link, and improve the product. When you use the optional “AI rewrite” tool, the interview answers you submit are sent to an AI provider to generate the draft; we don’t send them your identity. If you add a VIN, we keep it private and never display it; when it can be decoded we send it to the U.S. government’s NHTSA vehicle database to retrieve factory specifications (such as engine and assembly plant), which aren’t sensitive and may appear on your car’s page.

We may also use content and factual vehicle details to build aggregate, statistical, or de-identified datasets and features — such as model overview pages and market or history insights — that are not tied to your identity. This helps power the registry and improve the service. As noted below, we don’t sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers that run the platform on our behalf: our database, storage, and authentication provider (Supabase), our hosting and analytics provider (Vercel), the AI provider used for story polishing, our email provider (Resend), Google (only if you choose Sign in with Google), and the U.S. government’s NHTSA vehicle database (only to decode a VIN you’ve added). Each processes data only to provide their service.

Your choices

You can edit or delete any car you’ve published at any time. To delete your account or request a copy or removal of your personal data, email us. We’ll remove your personal information; note that a car’s anonymized history may remain as part of the vehicle’s record, as described in our Terms.

Cookies and analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics and only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and run the site. We don’t use advertising trackers. To understand which cars and topics readers find interesting, we store a random, anonymous identifier in your browser and note how visits arrive (for example, a link’s campaign tags). This identifier isn’t tied to your name or email and isn’t shared across other websites; clearing your browser storage resets it.
