The Story
My interest in cars started in 1997 when my wife bought me a 1957 Oldsmobile 98 for my 40th birthday because I had such fond memories of that being my first car when I was 15. Since then, I restored two 1956 Cadillac Coupe de Villes after 2000. I ended up selling both of them, thinking a four-door Cadillac would be more enjoyable and easier for the family to get in and out of. I found my present car on eBay around 2011 from a gentleman in Tennessee. Before that, the car had spent most of its life in Arizona where it was owned by a TV star, Jack Webb, for part of its life. When I got it, the car was complete and rust-free, but everything was just "tired".
My first thought was to keep the car original, with its patina, and leave it unrestored. However, beginning in 2014 I found I couldn't leave well enough alone and began to work my way around the entire car, eventually doing a complete body-on restoration. The only portions not redone on the car now are the door panels and some of the front-end chrome. Today, everything works as it should, including the factory air conditioning.
