The Story
My wife Cathy and I built this car in our garage. It all started because I’ve always loved the style of the 1934 Ford, ever since I was a kid playing with a Matchbox version of one. When we found the body at the NSRA Nationals in Louisville, Cathy was the one who encouraged me to buy it.
Building it is my favorite part of the hobby. To get the 454 engine to fit, we had to cut the frame, and we had to do the same thing to clear the big rear tires. I had to explain what I was doing to Cathy every time I cut into it. For the headers, I saw a design I liked in a magazine, thought "I could build those," and went ahead and made them myself. Cathy designed the whole interior.
Underneath, it has a Ford 9-inch rear end with 4.11 gears and an 8-71 blower. It has plenty of torque to get you down the street.
